ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Jamie. I am a wife and mother
of three in Grand Forks, ND. I love to spend time
with family and friends, experience new places, try
new food, create art, read, watch movies, go to
church, as well as play city league basketball and
volleyball.
I grew up on a farm with my parents, older sister, and
younger brother in Edgeley, ND. As a six foot awkwardly
skinny junior high student I stayed involved in basketball,
volleyball, track, FBLA, FCCLA, annual & paper staff
throughout my secondary educational years.
I continued my education at NDSU majoring in Interior Design year one. Changing degrees to an Art Major in year two. I stayed involved on campus as a member of NDSU Art Club. As well as working on campus in the print shop and playing on intramural volleyball and basketball teams.
I found my passion in Art and knew I wanted to be an Art Educator as well as a coach. Because NDSU didn’t have Art Education or a Coaching Minor as an option, I transferred to UND Fall of 2006. Staying active on campus through Tau SIgma Honor Society as Secretary and playing on intramural basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. I graduated in 2008 with Magna Cum Laude Honors with a BFA in Visual Arts, Coaching Minor, and Teaching Licensure.
In 2010 I married my husband Jeremy and started teaching as the 7-12 Art Educator and the Head Volleyball Coach at Larimore Public School. I continued my education by completing a Masters of Science (M.S.) in General Education with an Art Minor in 2012 from UND Graduate School. For my Thesis project I created an Art Curriculum that encouraged educational travel. I was/am passionate about learners being immersed in culture and travel experiences. Art Club had their first educational tour to Paris and Rome in 2013, and continued to learn in Greece, Turkey, Costa Rica, New York City, Australia, & New Zealand, Ireland, and Chicago, Scotland, England, and Italy again in 2026.
After teaching for a few years I was also encouraged to complete my Library Media Specialist Degree from VCSU. I taught at Larimore High School as the 7-12 Art Educator, Art Club Advisor, and Library Director for 14 years. I am currently the 7-12 Art Educator and Art Club Advisor at Hillsboro High School and am really enjoying the community. My students have the opportunities to register for Art competitions, go on local field trips, be members of National Art Honor Society, get together for studio days, and are enriched by local artists that come to teach them about their Art businesses. Art is so much more than a hobby. Our learners get to experience skills they will get to use for the rest of their lives.
Over my professional career I have learned a lot about education. I am a volunteer on three non-profit corporations on the board of directors; St. Michael's Bridge Builders, North Dakota Art Education Association, and Art and Adventure Educational Tours. All of these organizations are missions close to my heart. My goal is to continue to learn throughout my life, and to teach as many kids as I can about the value of art and educational travel adventures. This includes adults and their desire to continue to learn and grow for the rest of their days here on earth. I hope you all can experience the 7 Wonders of the World and you continue to reach for the stars. As I always tell my students “Look what you can do, if you just try” ~ Mrs. Worden.
